Literature Text

He traded his smile for a paycheck
It wasn't enough so he had to start walking
Got on a bus, said "To Boston"
Fell asleep
Woke up in Wisconsin

Hey
It could be enough
Nothing works out
The way your mama promised

Hey
Don't you have enough?
Nothing works out
The way your daddy said

He traded the paycheck for a sketchbook
Sat on the street drawing twenty-dollar portraits
She smiled first, said "My place"
Followed her home
Woke up by a street lamp

Hey
It could be enough
Nothing works out
The way your mama promised

Hey
Don't you have enough?
Nothing works out
The way your daddy said

Nothing to trade but the sketchbook
Still on the street drawing twenty-dollar portraits
Another great smile saying "My place"
Walked away
Still awake in Wisconsin
I don't know if I'm getting any better at writing lyrics, but I like this. And yes, there are probably far better titles for it than Wisconsin, but I don't care~

What's wrong with waking up in Wisconsin?
