A friend mentioned wanting to try making a visual novel, so I offered to draw the characters for her. This one is just a random idea while she brainstorms storyline.
Literally a fast doodle. I tried to come up with a slightly different style for the mouth on the full body shot, but you can tell where I started to feel sick. The bust looks too much like my old style, and its hair came out crap.
But I sort of have a balance on art and drawing right now, which rather surprises me. I wrote 5K in Bianca and still managed to draw this without it sucking (too) horribly. The balance is probably going to crumble when I wake up tomorrow though.
My internet has been spotty all day--it died altogether for quite a long while--and I think I'm heading into illness territory, so that's fun.
Do you find it difficult drawing someone elses characaters for them? I think I would, because I don't have the same feel for them that the originator does...
It really depends on how laid-back or picky they are, as well as how well-established the character is. If it's a character they've drawn, then I at least have an idea of expectations, but the more nebulous the description, the harder it is.
No, you are not allowed to get sick! I do not give you my permission! Nice job on the art though! Let's see what kind of ideas I get while I continue to stare at it for the next hour and a half!
I'll try to hold it at bay. Thanks! I'll probably try something very different with the bust on a second go. But hair and expressions are probably the most important, ne?
