About time I just dug in and finished. I did the outline for the pixel bit before going to the office yesterday, and then I spent most of the time after my appointment doodling Van all over notebook paper. I'll share those tomorrow.
Talk about a mix of digital media.!! I really need to work on my lack of painting skills.
Painter 9: Pens to outline his face, oils for the color (details brushes for most things and my own custom brush for his hair), all text, my signature.
Photoshop: Outlines (the blue crap surrounding most things) smegging with his name, final save to PNG.
MSPaint: All pixel work. His hoodie was not as hard to shade as it may seem. I HATE MAKING MY OWN PALETTES
Fonts from Dafont (yes, including the symbols)
..it's not the best, but it does show how far I've come in four years: [link] Gee whiz. I should probably redraw Kemo and Mary for a side-by-side comparison for my deviantART birthday. 'Cause, you know, it's in four days.
Thanks, I like doing these. It's funny how Van suddenly got amazingly easy to draw when I hadn't drawn him in a long time. Suddenly he's all over my doodle pages.
Well, that happens. Truly. I discovered if I've laboured ( and I mean that in the literal sense ) over a procedure or character, and then let it sit for a while, it seems to mature, and bloom of its own. Went a year without drawing a particular character, and when I finally did put her back down on paper, she was gorgeous! I was amazed at how she came out.
So wonderful. Now I have this perfect confidence that no matter what, he'll come out right, if not amazing. Too bad I don't have that with anyone else I draw.
