January 17th(?): Checking Up

For the first time since we'd met Dannon, I was able to sleep in 'til ten o'clock.  I didn't realize I had until I fell out of bed and landed on my alarm clock.  One of the stupid-looking bells cut into my bare neck.  I mouthed a curse and shoved it under the bed.  Suddenly it seemed like a really awful idea, keeping an old-fashioned alarm clock.  My fault probably, I'd broken the small plastic box-y one…

January 15th: Interim and the Changes

Seven hours of sleep was not ever enough.  I rolled onto my other side and nearly broke my nose on the wall.  There wasn't enough room for me in my own bed, was there?  I slapped the wall as if that might make it move a bit.

"Get up, already!  I think I've conscripted most of your laundry trying to wake you up…"

Curse whoever had made Dannon our roommate.  Straight to the most literal of blazes with them, I say.  "Bugger off."  The words weren't afforded much oomph, as my face was still half in the wall, half in the pillow.  The little sod had the most annoying habit of waking up b

January 11th: Upstairs

The floorboards creaked ominously as we navigated around the holes.  Some were smaller than a golf ball, but others could have easily let an encyclopedia through.  Either to brag wordlessly or to make the going easier on us livies, Joseph went right through the middle of the hall, where the floor was in the worst condition.  I gripped the banister and made my way very slowly.  I hardly dared so much as check on Dannon's progress.

Actually, you just have to understand manga in general, and this genre in particular. Pretty boys are the tradition, so this guy stands out, and he also has a fun personality.

...now I think on it, being jumpy or bothered all the time has been done before. But it looks different on him. :lol:

Well, that shows where my main interests DON'T lie...but not that I don't like manga, because I've seen some pretty impressive manga drawings come out of Japan. :nod:

I have a very, very on/off relationship with it. It's just a very overdone style, to me--and there are obnoxious tropes that usually turn the off switch for me.

It's specific styles that attract. A lot of what I see on dA doesn't cut it, usually. But in all honesty, I haven't really looked that much for it here.

Can't deny that. As far as style goes, I can't think of a dA artist offhand who does it well, other than `JohnSu and *meago.
