In Which Travis Is Much Braver and Even Stupider

As Orah's body folded and shrunk into the form of a distressed toad, Travis felt a long resounding cry tear free of him, yet he made no sound. He snatched his sword off of the ground and advanced on the fairy godmother without a thought as to what an idiotic thing he was doing.

A blast of crackling energy caught him in his recently healed shoulder, knocking him back into a tree. Orah croaked in alarm, but he waved her off. He couldn't let anything else happen to her.

"Change her back!" he shouted, before he'd even gotten back to his feet.

"Tell me where Damien is!"

Chapter Twenty-One:
In Which Travis is Brave, i.e., Stupid

Seeing Damien roughing Tag around made Travis want to hit him, but there wasn't time for that now, and it looked as if he had a plan. Travis settled for subtly pulling Orah deeper into the protection of the alley, and was only a little surprised when she didn't step on his foot.

"What's it? What are you on about?" Tag certainly didn't seem to mind being jerked around like a little girl's doll, unless he was just being too polite to show it.

"The bag of devouring!" Damien said, nearly squeaking again. "It can eat the edicada, right?"

In Which Travis Tries to Redeem Himself And Learns Something

Head buzzing with the events of the previous day, Travis found it difficult to sleep. He was up sooner than the sun, thinking before his eyes were open. Something he had said or done had been stupid or wrong, but he couldn't understand what it was. Orah had said that she knew the King of No Reason, but even if that was true, which he was beginning to doubt, it didn't explain why she'd gotten so upset. In Which Travis Falls Differently

He watched in awe as the beautiful young lady sauntered to the campsite with all the regal airs of a princess. Her long red hair was coming loose of its braid, several locks of it were free already, gently brushing against her back as she walked. She was dressed in the coarse brown clothes of a holy healer, but if anyone had asked Travis, he would have said that a parade of duchesses in brocade finery wouldn't have looked half as breathtaking.

In Which Travis Gets a Thick Ear (But only Half Deserves It)

Although Travis had never consciously thought about it, Tag had never once struck him in earnest. He watched his elder's face now and slowly came to realize the fact in that one sidelong glance. If he had ever studied irony at all, he might have placed the word in this situation, now that the 'never' looked like it would soon be broken. I Liked These Boots...by ~Kid-Apocalypse

This is a couple of things. Proof that I still draw my own characters, for one.

Also practise just drawing, doing weird things with perspective and hair, MUCH-needed anatomy practise, and I plan to draw this chick some more. The lineart was all done on one layer as well--well, I cheated once, on the lines for the bottom of her boot. That's all though. Everything else, one layer.

And I've been wanting to write another story while keeping up with AGBGTBT, so that's this as well.

It's called Order of Operations, or O3 because I'm funny and I like the song Oh3. Her name is Molly Beckett and she has a pet wolf I have completely nicked from real life. His name was Angus and I miss him, so he needs immortalising.

Molly is going to save the world because no one else will do it.

Thank you~ I'm trying to be brave again, and ask more of myself with poses. Especially hands and the angle of limbs. I think it might be harder than head angles sometimes.

Yeah, in a lot of respects the head's easier, because we're used to paying attention to the various angles with other people...and how many times do you pay attention to someone's legs, arms, etc on a conscious level when you're with them?

That's a good point. People tend to be talking, and that's where attention kind of automatically goes--to the head. I should try to pay more attention to other limbs.

You'd think reading comics would make me more aware. :\ Mrrr. I'm too clueless by half.

An' sure...an' what do you pay attention to in the mirror?

It's a good place to start, to learn drawing limbs, in an exaggerated sense. But we're so used to seeing them ala comics, it's become part of a norm.

I love drawing hair.

This is true. It also depends on what kinds of comics you read. One I think I should like to be influence more by (oh my grammar is dead) is Hannah Is Not A Boy's Name. The proportions and things can get quite stylised, and I think that kind of whimsy and freedom would be good to play with and learn from.

Yeah, I concur. I would love to learn a bunch of different styles. I can't imagine myself doing landscapes, realism forever.
