Steam gushed over every surface in the bathroom, almost as directly as the jets of nearly scalding water hammering against Scout's neck and back.  He leaned against the tiled wall, head down, flexing his fingers.  But even the pounding of the hard water couldn't quite drown out the sounds of the others in the base, shouting at one another across the airwaves--arguing, admonishing, threatening.  Every now and then, one or a group would pause in their chatter and complain.  "Get out of the damn shower and shut off your comms, you snotty little mongrel!" and other variations drifted dimly through Scout's fog of tho

But I am doing the female-self meme for Van, so you could do that with Irian or Ekai. ;)
