Chapter One:
In Which Travis Shortshot Defends Poorly

The thunder-strike sounds of powerful hoofbeats beneath and behind him made Travis's teeth ache.  His chest burned from breathing the noxious air sailing around the mountain in a sticky-looking grayish purple cloud, and even his naturally porcupine-esque hair was drooping from fatigue.  He gripped the horse's mane and swallowed back a whining complaint.

The horse didn't seem to even notice that they both should have dropped dead days ago, or that the enormous sword Travis had pinched from the castle was intermittently smacking into the horse's left flank.

I don't think I need to explain how I tied in the theme. The BFF thing does that for me. :laughing:

Wesley's a construction worker hence, the hammer. Jeremy is a compulsive gambler with the usual luck, hence the obvious evidence that he lost a bet.

Guess what Wes wants to do with that hammer. ;p

Yeah, admittedly, it took me a moment to figure it out, too...but it does add action to the picture. :D

I know, I couldn't quite figure out how to make it obvious that it's a jacket. But even with a hoodie, you can just put the hood on your head and leap around with the impromptu cape.

:D Thank you....hee. Jeremy is wearing the hood on his head, but not the jacket part. See the zipper on his side? It's not a hoodie, it's a jacket with a hood.
